NEW DELHI, India (CNN) -- The United States will send nuclear fuel and expertise to India under the terms of a pact reached on the last day of President Bush's visit to New Delhi.
Is it what it looks like? Or again a political gimmick? I have strange feeling that its all part of tightening circle around Iran... Firstly India voted against Iran in IAEA meeting, which wasn't something everyone suspected. India being an Iranian ally for such a long time, in the middle of Iran-India gas pipeline deal, which was something so important to India due to its souring energy requirements, was left in jeopardy because of this vote. So probably this nuclear deal was offered by US at the time of IAEA vote and India must have assumed that it was the high time to cruch such a deal from a country who once defied its nuclear activities. India got what they want (only if they know what they want, first russian ally, then european and now US), and americans diplomat did what they were asked for; cutting off Iranian relations to its friendly countries/outside world.
By doing so, they have sent very wrong signals to all those countries trying to develop nuclear weapons secretly,Libyan action won't be seen as example anymore and they will pursue with their plans as from this situation, it looks like time washes away everything with it, at one stage Indian research centers were imposed sanctions by US government due to Nuclear test explosions by Indian government and now they agreed to provide uranium for nuclear plants :)
On the other hand India won't get much out of this deal anyway, they have to open their nuclear sites for international observers, and if they are concerned about advanced technology, then they already got it, and Russia is supplying more nuclear plants to them anyway. So either it was a symbolic agreement by Indian government to show their loyalty or show of political power by US government, time will decide, all I'm concerned is that Pakistan will lose royalty it was supposed to get from that gas pipeline project.
